MARY QUEEN OF SHOPS!

I'm so excited about sharing this. I had to wait until Mary's Birthday (today!) as the portrait was a surprise. It was commissioned by Melanie Rickey, editor at large of Grazia, for her wife-to-be, Mary Portas. The portrait is A1, made from various papers and 3D. I do love a good challenge. Melanie asked me to include references to Mary's life and career, for instance her shop reviews for the telegraph, her love of chunky jewellery and small birds and one of her favourite books -Love Poems by Carol Ann Duffy.
I was so excited to see Mary on the Jonathan Ross show, the very day that the portrait was framed and ready to deliver.
I've included some pictures of the carnage caused making this in my studio (okay, it's my bedroom, but ssshhh, I'm trying to look professional).

As you can see by my portfolio, I haven't picked up a pencil in a while. It sometimes baffles people when I say I'm an illustrator that doesn't draw. So, when poet Nick Appleyard asked me to do some Aubrey Beardsley style illustrations for his book, Tales of Love, War, Heartache and Regret, I was more than a little nervous. However, the results have been recieved pretty well. Unless I discover my critics are all nice liars, hold tight for more.

Greetings cards

I've recently become a greeting card factory, designing, printing and packaging cards all on my larry! These cards are available at Artwords bookshops on Broadway Market and on Rivington Street.
The 'Love' one was designed with Valentines day in mind. Buy it and send it to your loved one.....don't do subtle.

Gender Bender

All excited, I opened the copy of Flashback, a new design book, and delightedly found the page with my work in it. Oh, hang on.....they've called me Lloyd in some parts and referred to me as 'he' or 'him' in all the information. And with that a tiny trickle of piss was released on a proverbial bonfire.
Anyway, to set the record straight, I'm not a geezer. I have all women's bits. I've put up a picture as proof. Thanks.

My chum Owen Gildersleeve of Evening Tweed put together this lovely book about personal experiences in the big apple. It features some truly excellent illustrators, who happen to be my housemates and best friends Sophie Kern and Rachel Lattimore, along side other besties like Marcroy Smith, Sarah King and Jen O'Brien.
